Allenby community

Allenby is well regarded as the place to be for families. Excellent schools, beautiful parks – including the Beltline Trail – and a fabulous shopping district on Eglinton Avenue West, what more could anyone ask for?

In our opinion, one of the best things about Allenby is the distinct community charm. All you have to do is take a quick look around, and you’re immediately going to recognize the “small town in a big city” feeling. Allenby real estate is quaint and cozy—if this is the neighbourhood atmosphere you’ve been after, look no further.

Families of all ages have fallen in love with the new North Toronto Memorial Community Recreation Centre. Located along Eglinton Street, this modern facility boasts an indoor swimming pool, complete with a giant winding slide. There’s also an outdoor ice rink, an indoor walking track, and a sports field for organized games or just running around. Little ones benefit from a variety of programming that includes dance classes, arts and crafts, and music lessons. This is really one highlight of the community that everyone has come to love!

History of Allenby

Since residents place such a high value on education, it’s no surprise that much of Allenby’s history revolves around its school. What is now Allenby Public School was once the site of a Huron Village from the 1400s to the 1700s. The first homes in the neighbourhood as we know it today were constructed in the early 1920s, which also coincides with the construction of the school. Named after Lord Edmund Allenby, a British soldier during WW1, Allenby Public School remains one of the top rated in all of Ontario.

Homes in Allenby

Allenby real estate features homes that are full of character, many of which were built in the 1930s and 40s. There’s a nice mix of traditional heritage homes in the Tudor style, along with modern builds and some bungalows.

No matter where you settle, your family will be surrounded by friendly neighbours, and the extra large lot sizes are an added bonus. Walkability to Eglinton is also a nice touch – with the Crosstown LRT coming soon, Allenby will be a beacon of convenience and activity.
