Midtown Toronto Location
A little insight into the city’s history can help you understand all there is to know and love about Midtown. We don’t have to journey too far back, just to 1998, when Etobicoke, Scarborough, North York, East York, and York were all amalgamated into the massive metropolis now known as the City of Toronto.
Midtown lies to the northern end of what we now call Old Toronto, which also consists of The West End, East End, and York. Look up any of these neighbourhoods on Google Maps, and you’ll likely see “Old Toronto” right next to the name.
The Neighbourhoods at a Glance
Speaking of neighbourhoods, many of Toronto’s most luxurious and family-friendly enclaves are nestled right here in Midtown. Think of the gorgeous and breathtaking mansions of Forest Hill, the unique and historic homes in Chaplin Estates and the trendy and modern masterpieces of Wychwood Park. There is no shortage of architectural wonders around here.
Yonge and Eglinton offers an exciting, urban environment amid an abundance of high-rise condos, often with spectacular views of the city skyline. If you prefer a more secluded location with no loss of convenience, look to Davisville Village, Bedford Park, Lytton Park, or Cedarvale. All offer an abundance of parks and playgrounds and are not far from some of Toronto’s best shopping and dining. It’s not hard to see why Midtown is a top choice for families, especially those with the budget for the finer things in life.

Midtown Toronto Real Estate
Midtown is typically associated with high-priced homes and estates. However, the full range includes options for buyers of various budgets and backgrounds. A few condos, townhouses, and even rental properties are sprinkled throughout the neighbourhoods. These are often ideal for young buyers taking their first step onto the property ladder as well as retirees who want to enjoy all the perks that Midtown has to offer.
The People of Midtown
Unsurprisingly, Midtown’s wide array of upscale and luxurious real estate is a massive draw for affluent families and others with financial means. The area is home to numerous professionals and executives, as well as some long-time residents who have owned their homes for generations.
While there is definitely an upscale vibe, nothing about Midtown is lofty or pretentious. Instead, the area speaks to quiet beauty and elegance, with a family-friendly environment and sense of community. While many people who live here do tend to be financially well off, people from all walks of life are proud to call these gorgeous neighbourhoods their home.
The Draw of Excellent Schools
The vast network of parks, trails, and incredible entertainment provide the glamour and the fun for Midtown residents. These are the neighbourhoods where countless memories are made for Toronto families. However, access to outstanding education is equally important, at least.
This is also where you will find some of Toronto’s most highly-rated schools in the public, Catholic, and private systems and at all levels, primary, middle, and secondary. Parents of young children often are drawn to Midtown just to be in the catchment area of the school of their choice. The Glendon campus of York University is also located in Lawrence Park: a prestigious postsecondary option for a prestigious neighbourhood!

Midtown Toronto, the Lifestyle
A day in the life of your typical Midtown resident could mean one of many things. It could consist of long afternoons exploring and relaxing in nature, whether in your own backyard or along the famous Beltline Trail or Moore Park Ravine. Alternatively, check out the Wychwood Barn, with its seasonal farmer’s market, off-leash dog area, and community garden.
If you prefer a taste of excitement, Toronto’s incredible entertainment venues are not far away. Yonge and Eglinton is the epitome of big-city living, with lively pubs and nightclubs, as well as a shopping and dining scene that is not to be missed. Nevertheless, there are clusters of activity all around in every neighbourhood, even the “quiet” ones. If you ask anyone local, they’ll tell you that the perfect balance of excitement and convenience with tranquil scenic beauty is what Midtown living is all about!
